Printer troubleshooting guide
The Printer being a piece of hardware that requires paper, power, and connectivity to your computer could potentially and occasionally malfunction and not print
A few things you need to check to get it back online.
First it might be paper related:
- Make sure the paper is not running low as it might have caused the printer sensor to order the Printer to stop. Please replace with a new paper roll
- Check that the paper is inserted the correct way and that the paper sheet goes underneath the horizontal bar inside the paper compartment
- Check that the lid is fully closed
It could be the power feeding the printer
If the Printer has no light indicator on (it should have a plain green light), it might well be power related:
- Start from the power socket (on the wall or floor). Check that it has not be been accidentally turned off
- Then check the power lead going from the socket to the adaptor: unplug and replug both sides to make sure it is fully plugged in as it might have come slightly loose (and half plugged)
- Last check the power lead between the adaptor and the printer: same please unplug both sides and replug fully
It could be a loose USB cable connection between the PC/Laptop and the Printer
The USB cable from time to time can come a bit loose and thus is no longer able to transmit the signal between the two devices. For that follow the steps below:
- Check the USB cable connection to the PC/Laptop. It might have come loose. Best to unplug and replug in the same USB port on the PC
- Check the USB cable connection to the Printer. It might have come loose. Best to unplug and replug
Finally it could be software related
Microsoft had a tendency to create a copy (Copy I) of the printer. So we now have a situation where Bluepoint is pointing to the original printer whereas it is no longer the default one. To resolve this:
- Create an appointment in Bluepoint and prepare yourself to check it in
- Once in Check-in, proceed with the check-in
- It should then prompt you with the Print window (that overlays over your Bluepoint screen), there at the top right hand-side you have a pull down menu that allows you to change the printer. Please see if you can select the new STAR TSP700II (Copy I)
- Once done, it will print and will keep this printer as default for any new print from Bluepoint
Once you've unplugged and replugged, it is often wise to reboot your PC/Laptop
